SCM’s Electronic Display Panel is a LED based large area display capable of displaying text information from multiple high speed communication channels. The Electronic Display Panel comes in sizes from 16 columns by 2 lines up to 80 columns by 26 lines. The text can be displayed in 16 colors with selection of foreground and background color, blink, underline, and font attributes. The Electronic Display Panel can receive information from up to four communication channels or several boards can be controlled by one communication channel.

Communication Channels - The EDP provides four independent high speed communication channels. Each channel can be configured for a specific protocol, including custom protocols.

Keypad Port - The EDP provides a RS-422 port to connect to SCM peripheral devices including keypads, keyboards, and pointing devices. Keypad information is used locally to configure the EDPand is passed out of the communication channels to remote applications.

Text Attributes - The EDPprovides 16 colors made up of shades of red and green. The primary colors are red, green, orange, yellow, and lime. Both the foreground and background can be set to any of the 16 colors. Character attributes include blink, underline, and one of two fonts.

Horizontal Scroll - The EDP provides one selectable line for horizontal scrolling. This line (if enabled) will queue data written to it and scroll the information horizontally from right to left.

Global Control - The EDPprovides programmable panel intensity control, default attributes, and a panel address. There are 16 levels of panel intensity. The default attributes are used when ever attributes are not specified. The panel address values range from 0 to 127.

Software - The EDPcomes with Windows 95 and NT Libraries and sample applications. These libraries utilize standard Windows communication ports. The EWB firmware can be customized for different protocols and/or features and downloaded via the communication channel.

Power Management - The EDPcalculates and maintains the desired maximum power setting to optimize brightness while limiting power consumption. The power setting ranges from 3 to 19 Amps.
